Year One trip to Lytham St Annes…
What an amazing day we had in Lytham. The first activity was looking at all the beach rules and how we can keep ourselves and others safe. We then split into three groups to carry out different activities…
1. Exploring minibeasts in their habitats in the salt marshes. Here we used a sieve to catch different creatures and then had to patiently sieve out the sand. We found shrimp, little fish and Miss Dunne also found four crabs!
2. Exploring minibeasts in their habitats in the sand dunes. We used big cloth nets and scooped in a figure of eight trying to capture different minibeasts. We found flies, spiders, beetles, caterpillars and even a shield bug.
3. Looking for treasures. Here we walked along the beach looking at all the treasures we could find. Some were good treasures like shells, pebbles and seaweed, whereas others were pieces of plastic, tin foil, etc. which we then correctly placed in the bin.
We were praised countless times on how well mannered, behaved and involved Year One were. I really did beam with pride yesterday and feel very lucky to be their teacher. Well done on shining brightly Year One!
